One killed in Kashmir accident

Srinagar, Aug 26 (UNI) One person was killed and another critically wounded when their motorcycle was hit by a tipper truck at Awantipora in south Kashmir today, official sources said.

They said motorcycle rider Hilal Ahmed and his pillion Mohammad Altaf were on their way to Srinagar when the tipper coming from the opposite direction hit them at Keegam in Awantipora area of Pulwama district this afternoon.

While Altaf died on the spot, Ahmed was rushed to a hospital where his condition was stated to be critical, the sources said.

They said police have registered a case and arrested the tipper driver for rash and negligent driving. The vehicle has been seized.
