Oil adulteration racket busted in Aurangabad
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Aug 26 (UNI) Crime branch sleuths today busted a racket engaged in adulteration of furnace oil and seized 29,000 litre furnace oil, two tankers and other materials worth Rs 10.64 lakh during a raid conducted at a workshop situated at Limbejalgaon in Waluj locality here.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP-CRIME) Eknath Budwant, told UNI that acting on a tip-off, crime branch sleuths led by him, conducted a raid at the workshop and found adulteration of furnace oil in progress there.
The police detained two persons, Sheikh Shakil Sheikh Hasan (39) and Srikant Lotan Yadav (25), who were manning the workshop, in absence of their owner Mushakh Khan.
The police seized two tankers, 29,000 litre furnace oil, seven drums containing chemicals and a engine. All the material including furnace oil and tankers valued at Rs 10.64 lakh, Mr Budwant said.
The operators of the workshop where the mixing of oil was in progress, does not carry any valid licence, Mr Budwant disclosed.
The police have registered an offence against the two persons under the essential commodity act, he said adding that investigation was in progress.
