Non-implementation of Centres scheme leads to exodus from Bihar

Patna, Aug 26 (UNI) Union Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh today described the Nitish government as "non-serious" and "weak" alleging that it failed to implement the National Rural Employment Gurantee (NREG) scheme resulting into mass exodus of poor farmers from the state.

" The Nitish government is a betrayer and is cheating the poor people by announcing to implement the scheme in all of the districts" Mr Singh alleged and told reporters here that the state government failed to implement the scheme even in a single district.

Organising functions for distribution of job card were nothing but a political gimmick of the state government, Mr Singh added.

He said at least 30 lakh poor people would have got employment had the schemes been implemented in time apart from exodus and starvation deaths, which were reportedly came to light.

He said the National Rural Helath Mission was in shambles and against the sanction of Rs 400 crore the state government was able to withdraw only Rs. 102.2 crore.

The minister assured to develop the state by 2012 for which the plan size for Bihar under the 11th plan should be of Rs.75,000 crore.
