NCM sets up probe into Sikh youth assault incident

New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) today set up an inquiry into the incident of assault on a Sikh youth and forcible chopping of his hair in Jaipur.

NCM Member Harcharan Josh who has been assigned the task is leaving for Jaipur tomorrow.

''I will stay in the city for two days and meet the Chief Minister, Chief Secertary and other officials concerned besides the affected sikh youth and his family,'' Mr Josh told UNI.

The probe committee has been asked to find out the facts of the incident, its circumstances and the action taken by the Police, he said.

The incident that took place on Monday has greatly agitated the Sikh community, who staged several demonstrations in Rajasthan and Punjab to voice their protest and anger.

The issue had also been raised in the just conluded monsoon session of Parliament.

The main accused in the case Arjun Meena was arrested in Delhi.
