K'taka to seek loan from World Bank for highways
Bangalore, Aug 26: The Karnataka Government has planned to seek a loan assistance of Rs 4,000 crore from the World Bank to upgrade 2,000 km of state highways, Public Works Minister H D Revanna informed today.
Addressing a press conference here, he said as per the upgradation plan, Rs 30-40 lakh would be required for per km stretch. The project was in addition to the upgradation works undertaken by the Karantaka Road Development Corporation.
Mr Revanna said taking into considertion heavy truck traffic between Hassan-Subramanya-Mangalore national highway, it had been proposed to strengthen the entire stretch. Union Surface Transport Minister T R Baalu had assured to release funds for the purpose, he added.
