K'taka CM or DCM to opt out of US tour
New Delhi, Aug 26: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today said that either Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy or he would opt out of their proposed visit to the United States in view of the drought and flood situation in the state.
When drawn towards the suggestion of a BJP MP not to go ahead with the proposed US visit for business promotion, Mr Yediyurappa said he agreed with the suggestion. "One of us will remain back," he said. The two leaders were to undertake the visit from August 31 to September nine.
Former Karnataka minister and senior BJP MP Ramesh Jigajinagi had issued an appeal to Chief Minister and the Deputy CM to postpone their proposed visit to US in view of raging drought and flood conditions in the state. The state, he aruged, was let down badly by the Centre which had refused to give any money although the state experienced one of the worst flood conditions caused by the release of water from Koyna reservoir in Maharashtra.
