Ganja worth 10.5 cr destroyed
Palakkad, Aug 26: In a joint operation, the Police, Forest and Excise has destroyed ganja plants worth Rs 10.5 crore at Mokali in Attappadi forest area.
Acting on a tip-off by the Tribal organisations, nearly 10,290 ganja plants were destroyed during the four-day operations from August 20 to 25 in ten different areas, Mannarkkad DFO K V Uttaman told UNI.
The forces conducted raids at Mullesaramudi, Abbanur, Gotiyarkandi, Kurukkathikallu, Kallad, Glassy, Idavani, Arlikonam, Moolakombu and Melesoothra areas in Attappadi separately, he said adding the raids would continue.
Two persons, identified as Suresh and Selvaraj, were arrested in this connection.
Besides this, 6,500 litres of illicit arrack was also seized and destroyed during the raid, he added.
Mr Uttaman said compared with last year, the ganja cultivation was very less this year becuase of frequent raids.
