Five bombs found in Malda station, security beefed up
Malda, Aug 26 (UNI) Panic gripped Malda town today after police unearthed five bombs in the railway station shed, Additional Suprintendent of Police Debasish Baral said.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Mr Baral said that some gangmen, working on the tracks, found the bombs in the railway shed outside the station and informed the station master.
The police, district intelligence bureau, the RPF and GRPF rushed to the spot and defused the bombs.
An investigation is on.
Police suspect that the incident might have some link with yesterday's arrest of an alleged Pakistani terrorist. He was nabbed from the Indo-Bangladesh border at Mehedipur near here.
Incidentally, two Improvised Explosive Devices were recovered from Panitanki area in Siliguri in Darjeeling district.
