BPL families to get aid for brain surgery

Bhopal, Aug 26(UNI) BPL families in Madhya Pradesh will get government's financial assistance upto Rs 1.50 lakh for brain surgery and neuro surgery.

Under the state sickness assistance fund, 16 diseases including brain surgery, neuro surgery and multi-drugs resistance have been included for one time assistance ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1.50 lakh. Allocation for the fund this year has been raised by Rs 2 crore to Rs 5 crore, official sources said.

Payment under the scheme is made directly to the recognised hospitals on the sanction of district committees.

Assistance is provided for cancer surgery, renal surgery, knee replacement, breast surgery, hip replacement, transplantation of body organ, coma cases, spinal surgey, retinal detachment, post delivery complications, cardiac surgery, industrial accidents, bomb explosion and natual calamity.

Besides all government medical colleges of the state, the recognised hospitals include Bhopal Memorial Hospital, Jawaharlal Nehru Cancer Hospital and Navodya Cancer Hospital, Indore's Bhandari Hospital, Apollo Hospital, Bombay Hospital, SNG Hospital and T Choithram Hospital and cancer hospitals at Indore,Jabalpur and Gwalior.

The recognised hospitals outside the state include: AIIMS, G B Pant Hospital,LNJP Hospital, Escorts Hospital, Batra Hospital, Indraprastha Hospital(New Delhi), KEM Hospital, Jaslok Hospital, Tata Memorial Hospital, Nanavati Hospital,Bombay Hospital, Lilawati Hospital (Mumbai), CMC (Vellore), Apollo Hospital, Shankar Netralaya(Chennai), Apollo Hospital and Care Hospital (Hyderabad).
