Two criminals killed in encounter

Dehradun, Aug 25 (UNI) Two criminals were killed in an encounter here yesterday, police today said.

The two unidentified persons were chased by the police after receiving a complaint from a woman that her gold chain was snatched by them.

Late in the evening the culprits were spotted and rounded up by the police at Asharodi. The duo abandoned their motorcycle and fled towards the jungle firing indiscriminately at the police.

In the ensuing encounter, the two were injured. While one of them succumed to injuries on the way, other died after reaching the hospital.

Police recovered two countrymade pistols and three gold chains from their possession.
