Hyderabad, Aug 25 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned for half-an-hour today as the TRS stalled proceedings for the third day today demanding adoption of a resolution to press the Centre to grant statehood to Telangana.

As soon as the House assembled for the day, Speaker K R Suresh Reddy announced that he was disallowing the adjournment motion given notice of by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and six other parties on various issues.

Agitated TRS members immediately rushed to the Speaker's podium and raised slogans in praise of TRS supremo K Chandrasekahara Rao and demanding statehood for Telangana.

Even as the Speaker appealed to the TRS members to resume their seats and facilitate normal discussion in the House, TRS members demanded suspension of regular proceedings and taking up a resolution for creation of separate Telangana state. As the TRS members continued to remain in the well of the House, the Speaker announced adjournment of the House for thirty minutes.

While the TDP and CPI had given notice for an adjournment motion on the issue of regularisation of contract labour in the Transmission Corporation, the BJP pressed for taking up Major Irrigation projects including Yellampalli and Dummugudem in the Telangana region.

The CPI(M) wanted to raise the Weaker Sections Education issue, while the BSP wished to raise the non-filling of vacant posts in tribal areas. Janata Party member K Ramulu pressed for an engineering college in Metpally.
