TN Govt has invited NLC management for talks: CM
Chennai, Aug 25 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today said the government had invited the management of the public sector Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) to hold discussions on protecting the rights of the mine workers.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Mr T Velmurugan (PMK) hailed Mr Karunanidhi for stalling the entire's proposed move to divest ten per cent of the shares of NLC and drew his attention to the plight of the mine workers.
He said several demands put forth by the workers, who had given their lands for mining activities on the promise of getting confirmed jobs and other benefits, were neglected by the NLC management.
Despite agitations, the management was not willing to receive copies of the memorandum from workers nor coming forward for talks.
Replying to this, Mr Karunanidhi said he had invited the NLC management for talks to arrive at an amicable settlement.
