Three cops, 5 others wounded in voilence

Basti, Aug 25 (UNI) Four police personnel and five others were severely injured after agitated Hindu Yuva Vahini workers resorted to stone pelting today.

Police Superintendent R P Chaturvedi said Valini workers were damnding renovation of a primary school wall at Haraiya, which was damaged in April.

When their demands were not met, the unruly workers led by Hindu Yuva Vahini leader Dharmendra Singh reached the spot and staged a demonstration and attacked the police.

Police firing and brick batting left a Circle Officer, Station In charge, two policemen and others including Ashok Jaiswal, Guddu Gautam, Lav Kush Mishra, Sony Lal injured.

The injured were rushed to district hospital, where critically injured Lav Kush was referred to Lucknow for treatment.

Meanwhile, Secretary (Home) Arun Kumar Sinha informed in Lucknow that the mob also set afire several police jeeps and Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation bus.

In order to avoid fresh voilence, PAC have been deployed in the tension gripped area.
