Tirumala, Aug 25 (UNI) The five-day Ashta Bandhana Maha Samprokshanam rituals organised by the Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) concluded at the Sri Venkateswara temple today.

The rituals are performed once in 12 years.

The rituals began with chanting of vedic hymns to the presiding deity in the sanctum sanctorum followed by poojas.

After special prayers, the power of the presiding deity was transferred to the 'golden pot' placed in 'Balalayam' inside the temple.

The holy water was sprinkled all over places in the temple, including the Anandanilayam Vimanam situated atop the sanctum sanctiorum, after the rituals.

During the ritual period, repairs and cleaning of the gold plate of Anandanilayam Vimanam was done besides applying special paste prepared from dozen herbs to plug the holes under the idol.

With the ending of the five-day rituals, the power was transferred back to the presiding deity from Kalasam (pot) by conducting special poojas amid chanting of hymns.

Special Officer A V Dharma Reddy told newspersons that arijitha sevas (paid sevas) which were cancelled during the five-day rituals would begin from this evening.
