Punjab exempts entertainment tax on Waris Shah

Chandigarh, Aug 25 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has announced the exemption of entertainment tax on Punjabi film 'Waris Shah Ishq Daa Waaris' saying that his Government is committed to promoting Punjabi folk, art and culture.

The announcement of tax-free status for the film came at a star-studded function here last night where Capt Singh released an audio cassette and Compact Disc (CD) of seven Punjabi songs of the film by eminent Punjabi Film Producer Manjit Maan of Sai Productions.

Speaking on the occasion, Capt Singh said that it was a matter of great pride and honour for Punjab that Punjabi film industry was now geared up for making feature films on the themes related to the state's cultural heritage.

He expressed hope that the film would prove to be a milestone in apprising the younger generation of the state's glorious cultural past.

Actors Gurdas Maan, Juhi Chawla and Divya Dutta were among many artistes of the film industry who attended the function.
