Punjab CM assures medical support for Sandeep

Chandigarh, Aug 25 (UNI) Assuring that the expenses for the treatment of Indian drag flicker Sandeep Singh would be met by the Punjab government, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today visited the PGI hospital here to meet the international hockey player.

Sandeep Singh was injured in a freak shooting incident while travelling in a Shatabdi train earlier this week.

''I wish to see Sandeep back in action and will leave no stone unturned by way of getting him the best medical facilities in the world,'' the chief minister said.

Consoling Sandeep's parents, Capt Singh promised to get the unfortunate incident thoroughly investigated to ascertain the reality.

Expressing deep regrets over the tragic incident, Capt Singh said that Sandeep was an icon for the youth of Punjab and hoped for his speedy recovery.

Capt Singh also spoke to the doctors treating Sandeep and enquired about his well being in the ICU.

The chief minister handed over a cheque of Rs one lakh to his father Gurcharan Singh to meet the immediate incidental expenses.
