No confidence in Centre helping in fighting flood affected: HDK

Bellary, Aug 25: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today said he has lost confidence in the Union government coming to help in taking up rehabilitaton works in the flood affected areas in the state.

''I have no confidence in the Union Government since it has not cared to release any money for rehabilitation of the affected. We have to solve the problem ourselves'', he added.

Speaking to newspersons at Jindal Helipad, he further said, ''There is no hope of any help coming from the Centre to rehabilitate people from the marooned villages in North Karnataka. Already Rs 23 Crore was released by the State for rehabilitation works in the affected villages.'' Referring to the drought and flood situation in the State, Mr Kumaraswamy said noted agricultural expert K C Reddy will study and submit a scientific report as how to utilise the flood water going waste into the sea.

''The situation was serious when Maharashtra released water since its reservoirs were overflowing.

But when we appeal for release of water during drought they simply refuse,'' he added.
