Itanagar, Aug 25 (UNI) Panic spread among the students of a government owned higher secondary school at Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh's West Kameng district after some 15 girls turned hysteric and fainted in the class in the last one week.

''Everyday a student would turn hysteric and faint in the classroom,'' the principal informed, adding that he was clueless about the weird situation.

Dirang's senior medical officer P K Shah said the cases seemed to be of panic disorder, hysteria or phobia. The hospital, the doctor said he was treating them with tranquilizers and other related medicines.

However, it was learnt that sometime back a girl student had died in the same classroom and this may have affected the psychology of other girls thereby resulting in the said syndrome.
