Imam rings the bell for Ramzaan
New Delhi, Aug 25 (UNI) The moon of the month of Shoban-ul-Muazzam on the Islamic calendar became visible today and the festival of Shab-e-Barat falls on September eight, the Imam of Delhi's grand old Jama Masjid announced today, ringing the bell for Ramzaan.
''The moon of Shoban-ul-Muazzam became visible today. Therefore, the first of Shoban-ul-Muazzam falls on August 26 and the 14th Shoban-ul-Muazzam (Shab-e-Barat) will be celebrated on September eight,'' Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari said in a statement.
Shab-e-Barat, which commemorates the entry of Muhammad into the city of Mecca, is celebrated 15 days before the beginning of Ramzaan.
