Gulf dirt track challenge for two-wheelers

Raipur, Aug 25 (UNI) Gulf dirt track national championshp for two wheelers will be held here from September 16.

Organising committee chairman Shrikant Karani told newsmen here that the two-day event was being sponsored by Gulf Oil Corporation and supported by Chhattisgarh Tourism Board.

He said the event would feature 12 classes, out of which seven classes were championship races. In the five remaining categories, three would be open to all, while two races would be for the riders from Raipur.

Mr Karani said the event was not restricted to professionals only but anyone, having a two-wheeler, could compete. There will also be a special event for ladies on scooter upto 110cc class.

Over the last four years, he said, the Gulf Dirt Challenge was staged in 12 cities, providing motorcycle freaks a chance to test their riding skills. With more manufacturers entering the fray, the event is gaining popularity, he added.
