Flood loss estimated at Rs 1300 crore

Jaipur, Aug 25 (UNI) The death toll in the flood related incidents in Rajasthan has increased to 85 with the largest number, 50 death, reported from the Barmer district.

The state government has estimated a loss of Rs 1300.85 crore in the 12 flood affected districts of the state.

Addressing a press conference here today, Relief Minister Kirorilal Meena said 5809 villages in 12 districts in the state have suffered extensive damage to crops and houses due to the unprecedented flood. He said 17.35 lakh hectares of standing crops have perished due to flood which was estimated to the tune of Rs 722.21 crore.

He said about 54,709 hutments were washed away while 2390 permanent houses collapsed. The loss due to damage to the houses was estimated at Rs 66.94 crore.

The livestock in these flood affected distrcit also suffered extensive damage with the death of 75,194 while the loss to the public property was estimated at Rs 511.69 crore The district wise loss of life is as follows: Banswara two, Barmer 50, Chittorgarh three, Dungarpur two, Jhalawar four, Jalore one, Pali 10, Rajsamand four, Sirohi three, Udaipur six while no deaths were reported from Jaisalmer and Kota districts.

The minister said the state government would soon submit a report to the Centre for special assistance under Calamity Relief Fund.
