Engineer penalised under Right to Information Act
Sriganganagar, Aug 25 (UNI) An assistant engineer of the Sriganganagar municipal council was penalised of Rs 1500 for not acting promptly on an information sought by an applicant under the Right to Information Act.
It was the first of its kind in the district after the act came into force.
Municipal Council chairman Yashpal Kaler has imposed the fine after hearing a petition filed by one Radheshyam Gover.
Mr Grover had sought some information from assistant engineer Sandeep Nagpal on June 23. But Nagpal failed to forward the application to the nodal officer within the stipluated time period.
Grover then filed a complaint with the municipal chairman who found the assistant engineer guilty and imposed a penalty of Rs 1500.
