Deshmukh inaugurates Hutch drop box on BEST bus

Mumbai, Aug 25 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today inaugurated Hutch drop box facility installed in the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking's bus at a function held here. in lawn of state headquarter.

BEST has also shown demonstration of its Automated Fare Collection (AFC) machine, known as 'Smart Card', CCTV and Public Phone, which were installed on the buses on August seven this year.

As per the AFC system, the passenger has to present the smart card at the validators installed at the entry and exit doors of the bus. At the time of entry, maximum fare up to the last destination would be earmarked. The actual fare would be calculated automatically when the card is presented once again to the validator and will be debited from the total amount on the card.

The commuters can lead the smart cards in the multiple of Rs 50 at the several service delivery points and on payment of nominal refundable deposit of Rs 25.

Among other prominent personalities present on the occasion were Deputy Mayor Ramesh Medhekar, MCGM leader of house Sunil Prabhu, MCGM opposition leader Rajhans Singh and BEST Committee Chairman Surendra Bagalkar.
