Belgium to send initial 302 troops to Lebanon - PM

BRUSSELS, Aug 25 (Reuters) Belgium will send an initial 302 troops to an expanded UN force policing the truce between Israel and Hizbollah guerrillas in Lebanon, Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt said today.

That number will later rise to 394, he told a news conference.

''There will be an initial 302 Belgian peacekeepers, and that will rise to 394, so almost 400,'' Verhofstadt said.

EU foreign ministers are to hold an emergency meeting on raising troops for the force later today.
