Accredation of MP universities for quality education

Bhopal, Aug 25: With a view to improve the quality of education in Madhya Pradesh, all universities and colleges were being assessed for accreditation in phases with seven universities and 48 colleges covered in the first phase.

The remaining colleges in the state will be assessed by the Bangalore-based National Assessment and Accreditation Council(NAAC) by November 30.

All government colleges along with private colleges getting grant would be encouraged for assessment by NAAC in the second phase and the remaining private colleges would be covered in the third phase, official sources said.

Similarly, the universities and colleges, which have already been accorded accreditation, would be reassessed.

NAAC, set up in 1994, is an autonomous body which assesses and accreditates the higher education institutions of the country and ensures quality standard by according various grades to such institutions.

At the state-level, quality assurance coordination committee and internal quality assurance cell have been constituted. Such cells are now being set up at university and college level also.
