33 students rescued, one missing in a boat accident

Talcher, Aug 25 (UNI) At least 33 school students and a boatman were rescued while one student was reportedly missing in a boat accident today in Tikira rivulet, a tributory of Brahmni river, about 35 kms from here.

Official sources said 34 students were ferrying in a country boat, from Mandua under Chendipada police station area to Komsala High School, when the mishap took place near Bol village in the mid river.

Villagers, however, immediately swung into action and rescued 33 school children and the boat man but Ajaya Rout(13), a student of class VIII, was washed away in the strong current of the rivulet.
