TRS forces Assembly adjournment for second consecutive day

Hyderabad, Aug 24 (UNI) The Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS) today again forced the adjournment of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for the day demanding that the House pass a resolution recommending the formation of a separate Telangana state.

TRS was on a war-path, following the resignation of party Central Ministers K Chandrasekhara Rao and A Narendra from the United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Government.

Soon after the House met this morning, the Speaker K R Suresh Reddy announced that five adjournment motions given notice of by opposition parties, including the one by the TRS were disallowed.

The TRS members who came into the house with placards shouting 'Jai Telangana, Jai Jai Telangana' slogans, rushed into the podium and climbed the steps leading to the Speaker's chair.

As utter pandemonium prevailed, the Speaker initially adjourned the House for an hour. Even when the House re-assembled, the agitated members continued to block the proceedings and shout slogans, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House for the day.

The Speaker before adjourning the House announced that all the questions listed for the day were deemed to have been answered and all the papers to be laid on the table were deemed to have been laid. He has postponed the listed Short Notice Questions.

Despite the Speaker's offer to call the floor leaders of different parties and discuss the issue, the TRS members did not budge. As the listed the business could not be taken up, the Speaker had to adjourn the House for the day.

Yesterday also the assembly was adjourned for the day on the same issue without transacting any business.
