Ten finalists for MAKE award announced

Bangalore, Aug 24 (UNI) Ten top Indian companies, a majority of them from the IT sector, have been shortlisted for the country's first Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise (MAKE) Award.

The award would be presented on the first day of the two-day knowledge summit 'Infovision 2006', to be held from September 28 and organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry and the International School of Information Management (ISIM) of the University of Mysore.

Infovision Chairman Ashok Soota told newspersons here that 33 nominations were received for the award, of which ten have been shortlised by a panel of senior Indian business executives and leading India-based knowledge management/intellectual capital experts.

The shortlisted companies were Bharti Airtel (telecom), Eureka Forbes (consumer products), Infosys Technologies (IT solutions), Larsen and Toubro (construction and engineering), MindTree Consulting (IT consulting and solutions), Patni Computer Systems (IT solutions), Satyam Computer Services (IT solutions), Tata Consultancy Services (IT solutions), Tata Iron and Steel (metal fabrication) and Wipro Technologies (IT solutions).

Mr Soota said the 2006 Indian MAKE study was a benchmark which recognised organisations for their ability to leverage enterprise knowledge to deliver superior performance in areas of innovation, operational effectiveness and excellence in products and services.

The eight knowledge performance dimensions which form the MAKE framework and were visible drivers of wealth creation included creating an enterprise knowledge-driven culture, developing knowledge workers through senior management leadership, developing and delivering knowledge based products/services and solutions and maximising enterprise intellectual capital.

Mr Rory Chase, Managing Director of Telcos, which decided the finalists, said in a release here that India was emerging as a dynamic centre of innovative knowledge management. This year's study would serve as a benchmark for recognising Indian companies which were leaders in effectively transforming enterprise knowledge into wealth creating ideas, products and solutions.
