Tax Deducted at source is important

Hyderabad, Aug 24 (UNI)Director General of Income Tax(Investigation) Muntasir Ahmed said that Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) and Tax Collection at Source(TCS) was an important source of Tax collection.

Speaking at a symposium on Tax Deducted at Source which concluded here, he said it was essential for the deductors to know the provisions corrently for proper complaince of law.

He said the symposium was an open forum to freely discuss various issues and provides a platform for better cooperation and understanding between tha tax payer and the department.

He said there was an attitudinal change by the department towards the tax payers.

The Income Tax department organised a three-day symposium on TDS.

More than 150 representatives from corporate houses particitpated in the symposium.
