Sensex weak in the opening move, starts 39 pts down
Mumbai, Aug 24: The Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index (Sensex) opened 39 points down in the red at 11,367.74 points and is currently trading at 11,322.34, which is 84.31 points below the previous close.
Major factors contributing to this dull performance at the Sensex are weak global indices, where the Nasdaq and Dowjones both closed in the negative following the weakning of the stocks and lacklustrous performance of the Asian markets.
The Midcap is down by 0.75 per cent and the Smallcap is down by 0.65 per cent on the BSE.
Major losers on the index are Reliance communications down 1.81 per cent,HDFC bank down 1.76 per cent, Grasim Industries down 1.40 per cent and L&T down 1.27 per cent.
There were no gainers on the BSE-Sensex 30 in the opening trade.
