Seoul, Aug 24 (UNI) Saina Nehwal failed to produce a giant-killing act and lost to higher ranked Soratja Chansrisukot of Thailand in the pre-quarterfinals of the Yonex Korea Open here today.

The world number 51 Indian could not match the guiles of the Thai shuttler who is ranked 14 places higher and went down 10-21, 19-21 in just 28 minutes in the six star event.

Saina, who became the first Indian women to win a four star event claiming Philippine Open title in May, failed to put her mark in the much bigger tournament. The Hyderabadi teenager had struggled in the earlier two rounds of the event enroute to the pre-quarter finals.

With her loss, Indian challenge in the competition came to an end with none of her compatriots failing to get past the second round.
