Rupee ends flat 46.53/54/USD

Mumbai, Aug 24: Indian Rupee today closed flat at 46.53/54 per US dollar compared to the previous close of Rs 46.52/54 per US dollar, the strength in rupee is attributed to strong performance of the sensex, said a money market trader here.

Earlier, rupee opened at 46.53/54 per US dollar and traded at the same rate in the mid morning session.

RBI today fixed the Reference Rate at Rs 46.50/US dollar compared to the previous rate of Rs 46.56 per US dollar.

The six-month forward premia was fixed low at 1.31 per cent and the one-year forward premia was fixed at 1.30 per cent.

The rupee performance against other currencies however was comparatively good. Against Euro it was up at Rs 59.52 (59.55), against Pound sterling it was flat at Rs 87.92 (87.92) and against Yen it was up at Rs 39.90 (39.95).
