Novell localises 'Suse Linux' applications
Bangalore, Aug 24 (UNI) Novell India today announced that the award-winning 'SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10' and some of the key applications that run on the desktop operating system have been localised to the Indian market, with support in five major Indian languages Hindi, Bangla, Tamil, Gujarati and Marathi.
This meant that users would get a smooth and consistent experience as they switch between menus, tools and the bundled applications, a Novell release here said.
''The localisations will give a great boost to the e-Governance initiatives by the State and Central governments in the project areas of Community Kiosks, as well as the ongoing Education initiatives by both the Private and Public Sectors,'' the release said, quoting Ms Revathi Kasturi, Managing Director, Novell West Asia.
She said Novell's aim was to provide comprehensive localisation and not just partial translation. Hence a broad set of applications running on the Operating System was identified and the local language incorporated.
