NHRC seeks report on Lakhisarai rape case

New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought a report from officials in Bihar's Lakhisarai district on the alleged rape of four Dalit women at Suryagarh on August six.

Acting on a complaint by Bindeshwari Paswan and four others, the Commission demanded that the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police file a report within four weeks.

The step also followed a representation by a delegation of MPs in the matter, a Commission spokesperson said.

According to the complaint, the women were assaulted because the accused believed members of the community did not vote for them.
