Mizo govt prohibits consumer goods inside aircraft
Aizawl, Aug 24: Following the instructions of Civil Aviation Ministry, Mizoram Aviation department has issued a fresh order restricting passengers from carrying specific consumer goods on the plane in Lengpui airport.
Henceforth, the passengers would no longer be allowed to carry any cosmetic items, toiletries, electronic goods and musical instruments in their baggage, the aviation department informed.
State Aviation Superintendent Brenda Lalkungi told that no medicine or drug can be carried inside the aircraft without doctor's prescription, while, tobacco and alcohols are strictly prohibited.
Parents with infants are only allowed to carry their baby foods, Ms Brenda said.
She further said the new rule would come into force immediately following the general instruction issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security on Monday.
Apart form this, the airport's security arrangements have also been tightened after the notice issued by the Union Home Ministry last week.
