KCR continues fast on Telangana issue
New Delhi, Aug 24 (UNI) Reclining calmly on a sofa at Jantar Mantar, here amid a handful of supporters, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrashekhara Rao continued his fast on the statehood issue for the second day today as his aides warned of an agitational storm heading the way of the Congress-led government in Andhra Pradesh.
The TRC chief was being medically examined by a team of doctors from the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital every six hours.
There was no word yet from the United Progressive Alliance or the Congress leadership on the demand.
''After today's developments in Hyderabad, we are not hopeful that the Congress will concede our demand. We have no option but to go back to the people,'' TRS General Secretary V Prakash said. The statehood agitation was set to revive strongly over the coming days, he said. ''They betrayed us'', he added, bitterly.
Mr Rao had begun an indefinite fast at Jantar Mantar yesterday, a day after he quit the union cabinet.
While former Prime Minister V P Singh had called on him at the protest site yesterday, former Delhi Chief Minister Madanlal Khurana met him in solidarity with his movement today, Mr Prakash said.
