IT officials seizes 15 kg gold from 2 air passengers

Chennai, Aug 24: Income tax officials seized 15 kg of unaccounted gold from two air passengers at Kamaraj Domestic Airport here yesterday.

Official sources said on a tip off, a team of income tax officials intercepted one Ravindra Mohan, who arrived from Delhi by Deccan Airways flight and seized 10 kg of ornamental gold from him.

Enquiries revealed that he purchased the gold at Delhi and was taking the same for supply to a jeweller at Coimbatore, the sources added.

The sources said the officials also intercepted a Hyderabad- bound passenger Durga Prasad, who was about to catch the Kingfisher flight, and seized five kg of gold from him.

Further investigations were on, the sources added.
