SINGAPORE, Aug 24 (Reuters) Gold barely moved on Thursday after volatile trading in London and New York. Dealers would be watching movements of the dollar for direction.

-- Spot gold was quoted at $621.60/622.60 an ounce, versus $622.25/622.75 late in New York on Wednesday.

-- Dealers said gold remained within the $600 to $650 range. -- Benchmark gold futures on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange, currently June 2007, fell 1 yen per gram to 2,347 yen ($20.17), reflecting declines in New York.

-- The euro edged down as investors awaited data on the business climate in Germany for more clues about the economic outlook in the euro zone.

-- The euro inched down to $1.2780 from around $1.2790 in late U.S. trade.

-- Platinum fell to $1,220/1,225 an ounce from $1,226/1,230 late in New York.

-- Sister metal palladium was steady at $342/347 an ounce.

-- Silver edged down to $12.38/12.48 an ounce from $12.47/12.49 late in New York.
