DSS procession turns violent, 52 people arrested

Bangalore, Aug 24 (UNI) A procession by the members of Dalit Sangarsh Samithi (DSS) turned violent as shopkeepers objected and the procession was stopped in the City today.

The agitators indulged in stone pelting causing damage to passing vehicles, including BMTC buses, when the procession was stopped.

Police said that 52 activists were arrested in connection with violence. The incident occurred on the busy J C Nagar main road as the group of persons took out a procession which was opposed by the shop keepers and other people and this led to a skirmish between the two.

However, the police who intervened disbursed them by resorting to lathi charge.

The situation was stated to be under control now.
