CPI for Assembly elections in phases
Imphal, Aug 24 (UNI) CPI Secretary B Sharma has submitted a representation to Election Commission member Navin B Chawla to conduct the next Assembly elections in a phased manner.
While Mr Chawla was in the state to ensure the Assembly elections Mr Sharma said the state needed stringent security arrangements keeping in view the poor law and order situation.
He also feared the likelihood of miscreants creating trouble during the elections.
He further said elections for 40 seats in the valley should be done in the first phase and 20 seats in the hill in the last phase, so that separate security arrangement could be made to ensure fair elections.
He also stressed the need of at least six armed security personnels and a few unarmed officers at every polling stations.
