Comprehensive package for flood-hit units: Modi

Surat, Aug 24 (UNI) The state government will come out soon with a comprehensive package for the flood-hit industries of Surat keeping in mind the needs of different industrial units, Chief Minister Narendra Modi said here today.

Mr Modi was speaking at the South Gujarat Chambers of Commerce and Industries here where around 60 industrial associations participated. The associations represented different textiles, diamond, jewellery and chemcials units, according to an official statement here.

The government has formulated a taskforce to help the industries recover quickly and this taskforce will interact with the bankers committee and insurance companies. The government is also in touch with RBI to resolve and alleviate problems facing the industries.

He also said that extended time has been given to fill up forms for VAT. Those VAT forms that were to be filled in July had been extended up to August 22, while those for the month of August have been extended till September 30, the statement added.
