APSRTC decides to run buses on bio-diesel

Hyderabad, Aug 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana today informed the state Assembly that the public sector APSRTC has decided to introduce bio-diesel services in the state.

In a written reply to S Udaya Bhanu of Congress, the Minister said that emission of less pollutants was beneficial to the commuters and the public at large.

He said on a trial basis, from July 2006, 15 vehicles of Dilshuknagar depot in the city were being operated on different routes and another 15 vehicles of Hyderabad-II depot were being operated on Hyderabad-Udgir and Hyderabad-Kolhapur routes.

Minister for Finance and Health K Rosaiah today told the Assembly that there were no deaths due to Chikungunya in the state.

In a written reply to Ch Ayyanna Patrudu, Ch Babu Ramesh, A Sridevi of TDP and others from MIM, Congress, CPI, CPI(M) and TRS, the Minister admitted that several contagious diseases including Chikungunya were spreading in several areas, particularly in slum and Girijan areas and also in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

He said all preventive and control measures were being taken to contain the disease and provide medical facilities to the patients.
