3 killed by lightning

Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, Aug 24 (UNI) Three people died in this district after being struck by lightning this evening.

Police said L Karithikeyan (14) was killed and Sachin (10) and Bhanu (35) seriously injured when they were hit by lightning, at a government elementary school in Kanisapakkam, near Panrutti.

The duo were admitted to the Panrutti General Hospital.

Ramalingam died after he was hit by lightning when he was repairing his bicycle under a tree, at Neyveli Block 20.

His body was taken to the general hospital at Neyveli for post mortem.

A bed-making unit in Neyveli was also destroyed in a fire triggered after lightning struck it.

At Kunjipadi, Nagappan died (80) died when he was hit by lightning.
