Swedish prosecutor drops Larsson punch case

STOCKHOLM, Aug 23 (Reuters) A Swedish public prosecutor has dropped an investigation into an incident on Saturday involving former Barcelona striker Henrik Larsson, Swedish television said today.

''There is no reason to assume that a crime which falls under mandatory prosecution has been committed,'' prosecutor Tom Svensson told SVT.

Larsson, now playing back home for Helsingborg, was caught on television delivering what looked like a punch to Elfsborg's Jon Jonsson.

The Swedish Football Association is to consider the incident at a meeting on Friday.
