Special trains for Onam
Chennai, Aug 23 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Railways R Velu has ordered special trains on Chennai Central-Trivandrum, Mangalore Sections, Trivandrum-Mangalore-Trivandrum and Ernakulam-Bangalore-Ernakulam sections to clear the extra rush of passengers in connection with the Onam festival.
A Southern Railway press release said here tonight that the Trivandrum Special will leave here at 2200 hrs on August 31, September 2, 3, 4 and 5 and reach Trivandrum at 1630 hrs on the next day.
In the return direction, the train will leave Trivandrum at 2000 hrs on September 1,3,4,5 and 6 to reach here at 1215 hrs on the next day.
The Trivandrum-Chennai Central Superfast Special will leave Trivandrum at 2000 hrs on September 9 to arrive here at 1215 hrs the next day.
In the return direction, the train will leave here at 1600 hrs on September 10 to reach Trivandrum at 0700 hrs the next day.
The trains will stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Palghat, Ottapalam, Trichur, Alwaye, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Chenganacherry, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara, Kayankulam, Quilon and Varkala.
The Chennai Central-Mangalore Superfast Special will leave here at 1600 hrs on September 1,3,5 and 9 to reach Mangalore at 0745 hrs on the next day.
In its return direction, the train will leave Bangalore at 1600 hrs on September 2,4,6 and 10 to arrive here at 0800 hrs the next day.
The trains will stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Padanur, Palghat, Shoranur, Kuttipuram, Tirur, Calicut, Badagara Tellicherry, Cannanore, Payyanur, Kanhangad and Kasargod.
