Parties agree to review ceasefire rules: Thenucho
Kohima, Aug 23: Nagaland Home Minister Thenucho has said there were indications that the Centre and both the factions of NSCN have agreed to review the cease-fire ground rules.
Replying to a question from Congress legislator Takamasa Ao in the first day of Monsoon Session of Nagaland Assembly, the Home Minister said details of the agreement were not available with the State Government as yet.
He also informed the House that the State Government had deployed adequate police force to contain inter-factional clashes.
He said that on the directions of the Government, instructions were issued by the Superintendents of Police (SPs) to armed members of the underground to vacate townships and populated areas in order to avoid casualty of innocent citizens in the clashes.
He said that efforts for peace have been made through the Consultative Committee for Peace and NGOs, civil societies and churches to pacify the warring cadres.
