Idea crosses 1mn subscriber base in Kerala

Kochi, Aug 23: Idea Cellular Ltd. today said it has crossed the one million subscriber mark in Kerala and has garnered a 42 per cent market share among the private GSM operators.

In a release here, Idea Kerala Circle Head B Ramakrishna said that that Idea has emerged as the largest private GSM player in the Kerala circle.

Also, Idea was the only operator in Kerala with a 100 per cent GPRS and AMR enabled network, he added.

Mr Ramakrishna said the comapny had added 100 more towns to its network in the past three months and will add 90 more towns before September 10.

He said the company had added 500,000 new subscribers in the past two years, with 100,000 new customers being enrolled in the past 37 days alone.
