Vijayawada, Aug 22 (UNI) Irrigation officials manning the Nagarjunasagar reservoir today reduced the outflow to Prakasam barrage by letting out 2.38 lakh cusecs of water, against 5.02 lakh cusecs released yesterday.

An official of the Irrigation Department told UNI that the surplus water discharged from Nagarjunasagar would reach Prakasam barrage tomorrow. The water from the barrage would be released into the sea and irrigation canals.

Of the 4.79 lakh cusecs of water received in the Prakasam barrage this morning, 4.61 lakh cusecs was released into the Bay of Bengal and the remaining water was let out into the irrigation canals, he said adding that the full reservoir level (frl) of the barrage stood at 13.2 ft and all the 70 crest gates were fully raised to let the water flow into the sea.

As the inflows into the Prakasam barrage was declining, there was a possibility of flood receding in River Krishna in the next two days, the official added.
