Hockey player Sandeep Singh injured as ASI gun fires

Chandigarh, Aug 22: Indian hockey team drag flicker Sandeep Singh was injured in the left leg when the gun of an Assistant Sub-Inspector of the Railway Protection Force went off accidentally in Shatabdi train near Kurukshetra this morning, police said.

He is stated to be out of danger.

Accompanied by another World Cup team member Rajpal Singh, Sandeep Singh was going to Delhi as the Indian team is to leave for Germany on August 24, where the World Cup will be played from September 6 to 17.

According to the Haryana Police Headquarters, Sandeep was hospitalised at LNJP Hospital in Kurukshetra.
