Sensex dips after opening 22 points up
Mumbai, Aug 21 (UNI) Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensitive index (Sensex) today dipped after opening 22 points in the green at 11,488.03.
The Sensex is currently trading at 11,375.09, which is 49.06 points below the previous close of 11,465.72 points. The dip in the market was attributed to the weak Asian indices.
Also the crude oil prices, after retreating in the last few sessions, moved up on Friday in the US market. The Nymex light crude oil for September delivery inched higher by US dollar 1.08 to USD 71.14 a barrel, while the London Brent crude rose by 72 cents to USD 72.29 per barrel.
However, the BSE Midcap was up at 0.67 per cent and the smallcap was up by 0.70 per cent.
The major gainers on the index today were Cipla, ACC, Grasim Industries, Infosys, Gujarat Ambuja, L&T, Bajaj Auto, Hindalco and BHEL, all up bwteen 0.09 to 0.96 per cent.
The losers on the index were ONGC, Tata Steel, HDFC, Hero Honda, ITC, SBI, Wipro, Dr Reddy's Lab, TCS, and HDFC Bank, all down between 0.88 to 1.86 per cent.
